How We Built the GoBloom Site on EmDash in a Day

EmDash launched in April 2026 as an open-source, Cloudflare-native CMS. We used it to build GoBloom's own site — here's exactly how we did it.

When Cloudflare released EmDash on April 2, 2026, we saw an opportunity. The plugin marketplace was empty, no agencies had built on it yet, and the architecture was genuinely well-designed. So we decided to dogfood it: build GoBloom's own site on EmDash before pitching it to clients.

Why EmDash?

EmDash is built on Astro and runs natively on Cloudflare Workers. That means static-site-fast delivery, server-rendering for dynamic content, and $5/month for the entire hosting account — regardless of how many client sites we run on it.

The Block System

EmDash stores page content as Portable Text — structured JSON blocks. Each block type maps to an Astro component. We started from the marketing-cloudflare template (5 built-in blocks) and extended it with 7 GoBloom-specific blocks: TrustBar, HowItWorks, FeaturesBento, SplitContent, FounderStory, BlogLatest, and CtaBanner.

The Result

The full GoBloom homepage — 10 sections, custom forest-green theme, blog, and pricing — was scaffolded, built, and seeded in a single day. The CMS is live at /_emdash/admin. An MCP endpoint is available for AI-powered content management. Total infrastructure cost: $5/month.
